It works the same in these 3 versions of Word. I have set up a picture insertion in Word, so that users can see the 'grid' that users need to 'fit' their picture to. So it comes up in a separate document. In my Problem Doc attached, you'll see you have to double click on the picture and it enters into the picture editing zone. You'll see what I mean by picture grid in the attached Doc7 file - this is a screen dump from PC. It looks pretty much the same in Mac 2004. But when users delete my picture and insert their own picture, their picture disappears. I have no idea where it goes or why it does this. If they COPY AND PASTE a picture into the picture grid it works perfectly fine. But I need to correct the issue with the disappearing picture when using Insert > Picture. Can anyone offer me a solution to this problem - it is so annoying that there is a variance with Mac for Word 2008 as it makes this document become unstable for users on that platform. My findings indicated that it is a bug of 'Word 2008' and it has not been fixed yet. 'If I insert pictures to my document, either by drag and drop or by Menu-insert-picture I cant see the pictures on the document. (Just the black boundary) If I go to the Print Preview view, I see the pics. If I save it as PDF I get the pics on the pdf. If I rotate the image, I see the phantom-view of the pic rotating, but when I drop it, I don't see the pic. If I open a word template with pictures, and I replace the picture, I can see it.'
